Following up from our October post (https://summerthought.com/2022/10/03/alberta-bestsellers-list/), the December 2022 list of Alberta’s bestselling books includes three Summerthought books in the Top 10, including A is for Alberta at No. 2. The list is here: Alberta Bestsellers December 2022.
A is for Alberta has been a great success, with reorders from most retailers and having received great feedback from school libraries across the province. The Book Manager Top 10 list of Alberta’s bestselling books is a good snapshot of the local book industry, but only represents traditional bookstores, so the success of the new edition of the Canadian Rockies Trail Guide can’t be captured fully, as around 80% of sales are to non-bookstore locations such as visitor centres, lodges, and outdoor retailers like MEC. It was a surprise to see Lake Louise Past to Present on the list, but we assume this book, about the history of Alberta’s most famous lake, was a popular Christmas present.
