Images of Banff includes images from all parts of Banff National Park and through all four seasons—from famously photogenic lakes to local children playing hockey, and from sweeping landscapes to intimate portraits of local wildlife. The book is divided into four chapters and each image is accompanied by an informative caption.

From the Introduction: Banff National Park, Canada’s oldest and best known national park, encompasses some of the world’s most magnificent scenery. Soaring, snowcapped peaks form a spectacular backdrop for glacial lakes, fast-flowing rivers, and endless forests. Deer, moose, elk, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, black and grizzly bears, and wolves inhabit the park’s vast wilderness, while the human species is concentrated in the picture-postcard town of Banff and the equally scenic village of Lake Louise—two of North America’s most famous resorts.

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Banff resident Andrew Hempstead has been writing about and photographing the Canadian Rockies since the early 1990s. His images have been published in over 100 books and are used by corporate and editorial clients worldwide.
